IN JUST nine years, this vineyard has gone from a dream to an incredibly successful reality.
It was 2011 when Zam Baring and his three siblings came together to start what is known as The Grange Estate Wines.
Now, their sloping patch of land near Itchen Stoke produces grapes that make one of the finest wines in the world.
And that is not just hearsay – at the 2020 Decanter Wine Awards, The Grange’s bottle of Pink NV was awarded a platinum medal. Only two other vineyards in the UK were so lucky.
Zam, speaking to a Chronicle reporter as they walked through the rows of ripening grapes, said: “We are delighted to be up amongst the very best of the world’s wine making with what is only our second wine.
“We all wanted to do something with this plot of land that we grew up knowing, and have captured its taste in the process.”
