Woodbridge vineyard known for its wine, loved for its ‘family’ atmosphere

WOODBRIDGE — Customers say the wine at Savino Vineyards is favoloso, but just as delicious is the welcoming atmosphere that makes them feel like family.

That’s just how Gennaro “Jerry” Savino, 83, had hoped it would be when he realized his dream later in life of making wine like his family did in Italy. He planted the vineyard in 2000 and opened the tasting room at Savino Vineyards, 128 Ford Road, in 2007. There’s also a patio with tables, chairs and a view.

“It’s not a big operation, we’re very friendly. We engage with people and tell stories,” Savino said of the family-run business. “I’ve ever been more satisfied than doing this.”
